Why Learn?

A musician picks an electric guitarThis program is more than just music lessons—it’s a chance to experience the therapeutic and mental health benefits of learning an instrument. Playing guitar can reduce stress, improve focus, and provide a creative outlet. Over the course of 10 weeks, you’ll gain new skills in a supportive, veteran-friendly environment. And to top it off, every participant will receive a free guitar at the end of the class as a keepsake and tool to continue their musical journey.

Playing guitar offers powerful mental health benefits:

  • Reduces Stress: Playing music can lower cortisol levels by up to 25%, helping to reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Improves Mental Health: Studies show playing an instrument can decrease depression symptoms by 25% or more.
  • Boosts Cognitive Function: Learning guitar enhances memory, focus, and problem-solving skills.
  • Builds Connection: 72% of guitar players feel more connected socially, which is especially meaningful for veterans.
  • Enhances Quality of Life: 89% of people say playing music makes them happier and more positive.

Guitar isn’t just a hobby—it’s a therapeutic tool for emotional well-being and connection.
